A considerable number of persons are able to protect themselves against the outbreak of serious neurotic phenomena only through intense work. I do not at all have the mind of a bully... in my mind bullies are intolerant of contrary opinion, domineering and rather cowardly. I would hope that none of those terms could be fairly used in describing me. There is nothing wrong where we reach a point where maybe everybody could claim a victory. I think it would be good for the American people, which should be our first priority. We wanted to set a good example for the growing number of divers watching. Is it faith to understand nothing, and merely submit your convictions implicitly to the Church? In 1970 I realized that there was negligible risk from x-rays but many radiographs had poor image quality so that the risk from a false negative was significant. And, actually it was interesting because I had done a lot of traveling in the United States and Canada and Mexico on my motorcycle; and I was really, it was the first time I had really gotten out of the Minnesota area to speak of. Well it was not exactly a dissertation in logic, at least not the kind of logic you would find in Whitehead and Russell's Principia Mathematica for instance. It looked more like mathematics; no formalized language was used. When we say that the persistence of competition is ensured by fate, we mean that individual freedom is so guaranteed. The one thing to which fate binds us is liberty. God is a verb, not a noun. I played with Annika today. I love being paired with her. She does not make many mental mistakes, and she has the ability to repeat her swing over and over and wears people down. In some ways that fight gave me more respect around the world and helped me be even more popular because so many people felt my pain and saw that I was robbed. Many people would be more truthful were it not for their uncontrollable desire to talk. It means that no matter what you write, be it a biography, an autobiography, a detective novel, or a conversation on the street, it all becomes fiction as soon as you write it down. To doubt is worse than to have lost; and to despair is but to antedate those miseries that must fall on us. The decision to write in prose instead of poetry is made more by the readers than by writers. Almost no one is interested in reading narrative in verse. Corporate documents, like football game plans, are not easily drafted in a stadium, with thousands of very interested fans participating, each with their own red pencil, trying to reach a consensus on every word. The consolidation of the music business has made it difficult to encourage styles like the blues, all of which deserve to be celebrated as part of our most treasured national resources. That was our first major tour and we got a chance to play in front of like 5000 people every day so it was like a Rock and Roll boot camp for us really, we learned a lot and made a lot of good friends. The Body Shop Foundation is run by our staff and supports social activism and environmental activism. We don't tend to support big agencies. Insults are the arguments employed by those who are in the wrong. Education, like neurosis, begins at home. Many of them are doing it because they are concerned about smart growth. And the woman who could win the respect of man was often the woman who could knock him down with her bare fists and sit on him until he yelled for help. I think we're struggling with trying to redefine various positions at this point in history. To allow freedom for women, freedom for men, freedom from those sharply defined gender roles. I think it has most to do with the way in which a story is told, whether it feels real either via the music of the telling or the 'honesty' of the story. We have made hardly any changes in our conception of university organization, education, graduation, for a century - for several centuries. Rigid, the skeleton of habit alone upholds the human frame. I'm surprised that I actually pulled off the recording, getting all those people at the same time.

Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.
