The biggest obstacle to professional writing is the necessity for changing a typewriter ribbon. One can't relive one's life. Forgiveness is not what's difficult; one's always too ready to forgive. And it does no good, that's obvious. My parents and my grandfather on my mom's side would travel the earth. They went to Australia and China, and they went to probably every soccer game I ever played. I sang in the coffee houses of the country in the early '60s with no idea of success in terms of records or television. I just thought I was a storyteller. I didn't even think of myself as a singer. Money: power at its most liquid. With my personal preparation at the piano, I can afford to hum at half voice. Unless one says goodbye to what one loves, and unless one travels to completely new territories, one can expect merely a long wearing away of oneself and an eventual extinction. I'm getting a wrinkle above my eyebrow because I just can't stop lifting it, and I love that you know. The people are forbidden to give aid and comfort to rebels. What of a government that has the power to cut off from aid and comfort all the rebels of the South and fails to exercise it? To be more involved and more aware is appealing to me. I never made a career decision based solely on my desire to be an astronaut. I attended the Naval Academy because I wanted to be a Navy pilot. Only a genius can play a fool. We had to do the same thing here. To top that sequel was quite a task. Mike had a couple of good conceptual humour and character ideas, which got me back into it. Modern people are only willing to believe in their computers, while I believe in myself. Jealously is always born with love but it does not die with it. Laughter is ever young, whereas tragedy, except the very highest of all, quickly becomes haggard. In the country of pain we are each alone. I never tried to kill myself or anything. Christmas... is not an eternal event at all, but a piece of one's home that one carries in one's heart. Every child grows; everything depends on the teacher. Forget it, Louis, no Civil War picture ever made a nickel. One of the reasons people hate politics is that truth is rarely a politician's objective. Election and power are. Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake. We only get together when there's a good reason. Like, last summer, we didn't really intend to go out, but we thought the B-52's tour was a good opportunity. I enjoy the character interplay. Sometimes the audience is not laughing, but smiling, and that is almost just as good because it keeps them ready to laugh.
