My work is more about trying to ask good questions and not trying to come up with big shows. Every fashion company is doing that, every car company is doing that. Eventually I would like to touch all the genres. I would like to do some detective stories, and I want to do a Western. I would want to do humorous Westerns. The land of embarrassment and breakfast. My first years were spent living just as my forefathers had lived - roaming the green, rolling hills of what are now the states of South Dakota and Nebraska. He who fears being conquered is sure of defeat. I lead an introverted and boring life here in California. It is entirely undemocratic to continue these burdens on the people for years and years after the requirements of protection have been met and the representatives of these industries have become incrusted with wealth. Truth will rise above falsehood as oil above water. I am at peace with God. My conflict is with Man. The task of an American writer is not to describe the misgivings of a woman taken in adultery as she looks out of a window at the rain but to describe four hundred people under the lights reaching for a foul ball. This is ceremony. An action doesn't have to be wrong just because it is not logical. It doesn't have to be right just because it has its logic. I've been in the bargain basement of the movie business. Everything in Italy that is particularly elegant and grand borders upon insanity and absurdity or at least is reminiscent of childhood. Conscience is the window of our spirit, evil is the curtain. Life is a difficult game. You can win it only by retaining your birthright to be a person. When Shakespeare was writing, he wasn't writing for stuff to lie on the page; it was supposed to get up and move around. Change is growth. For me it has been a very spiritual and musical rebirth. I had a lot of friends in high school, but I was never the wild party girl. Never have been, never plan to be! Good luck is the willing handmaid of a upright and energetic character, and conscientious observance of duty. I am Roe. What I want to bring back to superheroes with this project is a sense of play. Things have gotten so dreary. The heroes have gotten so ugly that even their muscles have muscles. I want my music to leave an indelible mark. No matter how much you've won, no matter how many games, no matter how many championships, no matter how many Super Bowls, you're not winning now, so you stink. The most dangerous thing about student riots is that adults take them seriously. What we ask of music, first and last, is that it communicate experience - experience of all kinds, vital and profound at its greatest, amusing or entertaining at another level. Then there was the challenge to keep doing better and better, to fly the best test flight that anybody had ever flown. That led to my being recognized as one of the more experienced test pilots, and that led to the astronaut business. I found at an early age the times when I learned the most about myself was when I got thrown out there on a stage in front of a microphone when you didn't really want to be out there, where you're kind of afraid. I don't think I would be getting any of these movies without that show, and that's a strong show, a great fan base and it's helped me out a lot. It took me out of Canada and brought me down to the states and gave me my career basically. I'm not dissatisfied with my place in it rock 'n' roll. In Hollywood everything is so documented. If you go for a drink with somebody, it's passed around the world so quickly.
