I have a problem with censorship by the lawyer - by legal people by the publishing firm, and I may be changing publishers. They don't seem to want to take too many risks with living people. The man who looks for security, even in the mind, is like a man who would chop off his limbs in order to have artificial ones which will give him no pain or trouble. I use rock and jazz and blues rhythms because I love that music. I hope my poetry has a relationship with good-time rock'n roll. I can make a firm pledge, under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes. Talent is being able to please people. I'm a simple man. All I want is enough sleep for two normal men, enough whiskey for three, and enough women for four. It's nice to be asked to do good projects. Sincere composers believe in God. Religion stands, the Church blocking the sun. None of us is guaranteed against failure or corruption of any kind; witness what's going on in the world in this moment, the follies of human nature and the failures of human nature. The general statement that the mental faculties are class concepts, belonging to descriptive psychology, relieves us of the necessity of discussing them and their significance at the present stage of our inquiry.
