In larger things we are convivial; what causes trouble is the trivial. The important aspect shouldn't be whose administration it is, the important aspect should be how does the state of Wisconsin work, what can we do to move Wisconsin forward. If you try to have a fashion show with Bach fugues and John Coltrane, it doesn't really work. Give me a man who says this one thing I do, and not those fifty things I dabble in. The house built on the sand may oftentimes be built higher, have more fair parapets and battlements, windows and ornaments, than that which is built upon the rock; yet all gifts and privileges equal not one grace. But is not He who created it for the sake of the sick body more than the remedy? And is not He who cures the soul, which is more than the body, greater? I have offices all over the place and I avoid work everywhere. I don't like to write - I like to be finished. That friendship will not continue to the end which is begun for an end. People say they love truth, but in reality they want to believe that which they love is true. Every day is a good day to be alive, whether the sun's shining or not. The publisher has told - you know, if these editors, Andres Martinez and Nick Goldberg, were the least bit honest about this, they would tell you the publisher has told them he wants the editorial page to be conservative. We have tried you good people of the public and we have found you wanting. We live in a very dysfunctional society, and this is a very, very dysfunctional Administration. When some people get parts, they feel they can now relax, but for me it was always the opposite. Sometimes before I do a movie or before I act out a scene, I may not sleep well the night before. If I don't know what the scene is about, I might get all worked up. And as long as people want to hear me sing, I don't know why I'd retire. Isn't it a shame that future generations can't be here to see all the wonderful things we're doing with their money?
