There was never a genius without a tincture of madness. The power of one, if fearless and focused, is formidable, but the power of many working together is better. The priceless galaxy of misinformation called the mind. There are intangible realities which float near us, formless and without words; realities which no one has thought out, and which are excluded for lack of interpreters. The real technical problems came because people working on the project didn't really follow my proposal at all, but set out to do other things instead of making a laser. Because I don't believe music can be free unless it has something to be free from. To doubt is worse than to have lost; and to despair is but to antedate those miseries that must fall on us. In violence, we forget who we are. If I have been of service, if I have glimpsed more of the nature and essence of ultimate good, if I am inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action, if I am at peace with myself, it has been a successful day. Vanity is but the surface. I extract what I consider the best material from different sources. But often the material I perform comes from a very strange location in history, which are minstrel shows. God is omnipotent, He is omniscient, and He is ever present. I don't like being famous - it is like a prison. And driving for Ferrari would make it far worse. So, the struggle for equal educational opportunity continues. Iraq continues to be an immense disaster, and the President has no apparent plan for getting our troops out. There's obviously some validity to it. But I think it also points out that you obviously can do it on your own because people have been doing it long before they had the stuff. Hell hath no fury like a hustler with a literary agent. I very rarely saw Tom Kite around. I've talked to Tom about it. I don't think Michael Jordan needed to be on the captain's cart with Kite; he needed to be walking in the gallery, supporting them from outside the ropes. Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves. The test is to recognize the mistake, admit it and correct it. To have tried to do something and failed is vastly better than to have tried to do nothing and succeeded. Science is a cemetery of dead ideas. It's not to hurt anyone, but basketball can be rough.
