We praise a man who feels angry on the right grounds and against the right persons and also in the right manner at the right moment and for the right length of time. In spite of advances in technology and changes in the economy, state government still operates on an obsolete 1970s model. We have a typewriter government in an Internet age. Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city. I do detest everything which is not perfectly mutual. Every one of us is, even from his mother's womb, a master craftsman of idols. Posing nude is not making porn. Poetry is a sort of homecoming. Life is very short... but I would like to live four times and if I could, I would set out to do no other things than I am seeking now to do. If human beings had genuine courage, they'd wear their costumes every day of the year, not just on Halloween. I never saw anything more like real warfare in my life - only the attack was all on one side. The police, in spite of their numbers, apparently thought they could not cope with the crowd. My style of writing is to allow the story to unfold on its own. I try not to structure my work too rigidly. It is astonishing what an effort it seems to be for many people to put their brains definitely and systematically to work. Our faith comes in moments; our vice is habitual. Sharing food with another human being is an intimate act that should not be indulged in lightly. A Protestant has seldom any mercy shown him, and a Jew, who turns Christian, is far from being secure. There's not a hip-hop artist that didn't snatch of piece of Bob Marley. It's totally impossible. There stands no contradiction between giving voice to legitimate anxiety and at the same time, as and when exchange of fire commences, looking to the rest of the country, as well as all of us in the House, to give full moral support to our forces. In rap music, even though the element of poetry is very strong, so is the element of the drum, the implication of the dance. Without the beat, its commercial value would certainly be more tenuous. What a man knows at fifty that he did not know at twenty is for the most part incommunicable. I really like the Observer. I think I'd love to have a column with a broad reach that would enable me to do some proper reporting, but keep it on sort of a humorous level. I've always had a very happy experience writing for them.
