I didn't want to be greedy. It's a mark of bad character and I always believed that pigs go the slaughterhouse. The Veteran's History Project, a nationwide volunteer effort to collect oral histories from America's war veterans, provides an avenue to do just that. Now in its fifth year, the Project has collected more than 40,000 individual stories. Working in Isaac's universe was more of a treat than a challenge. Reputations rise and fall almost as regularly as the tides. If an American audience is given a serious musical theater piece that is well produced, dramatically gripping and wonderfully acted, they'll respond to it. Don't fight forces, use them. When Culture Club broke up, I hadn't been going out a lot because we'd been working all the time, so I suddenly had this period of leisure. And it was just around the time that the whole acid house thing kicked off in London. Yeah, well when I first started working, it was $5 a show; it was probably a little higher by the time I got to my own show, but I remember that they put me under contract at $100 a week, which to me was really an astronomical price. In a single moment, we witnessed the worst of human behavior. And in the next, the very best of human behavior. And even more, we witnessed the tremendous spirit of Americans. It's just happened that I've ricocheted from one interesting character to another. What was so good about it was that the set that they originally built stayed there, and weathered over the five years. It got five summers and five winters of weather. It became more and more authentic as we worked in it, and they added bits to it. I don't want to see people decorating a house or digging a garden. As for guys like Jonathan Ross, he got an award there last Christmas. What for? He doesn't sing, dance or tell jokes, does he? If you let a bully come in your front yard, he'll be on your porch the next day and the day after that he'll rape your wife in your own bed. No memory is ever alone; it's at the end of a trail of memories, a dozen trails that each have their own associations. Blood alone moves the wheels of history. I started writing movie scripts. They excited me a lot, but I didn't like them when they were finished because they were simple copies of the films I saw in childhood. Delay only compounds mistakes. When you start to develop your powers of empathy and imagination, the whole world opens up to you. There have been many great men that have flattered the people who ne'er loved them. My experiences have taught me a lot and I'm happy with my learning's, if not with what I went through to learn. Cancer has been unfortunately in my life. My mom's best friend is kicking ass in her battle with breast cancer. Both of my grandmas had cancer. I recently lost a friend to cancer. There was never anything like it before in history. It was a different kind of joyous, happy screaming. I want, in this school, that one sex shall have equal advantage with the other, and I want particularly that females shall have open to them every employment suitable to their sex. I'm so incredibly tired of giving respect to a lot of delusions and crazy ideas just because they are regarded as religions. It wouldn't have mattered to my mother if I married a black, was gay, lived in a commune or wore a dress. I've sown all the oats I want to sow.
