ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ We were on welfare when we were kids. Thanks for reminding me of that. I have a great belief in the future of my people and my country. Driving is a spectacular form of amnesia. Everything is to be discovered, everything to be obliterated. Nothing's funny about someone who's successful. Will Smith is young, he's cool and my kids have his CDs. George Burns was the father I never had. I just don't see myself as a travel writer. I can't. I don't. Everybody thought I was crazy. They thought I should take the money and run. But there was just something special about being a senior at Chapel Hill. I just couldn't leave. Genius unrefined resembles a flash of lightning, but wisdom is like the sun. We didn't lose Vietnam. We quit Vietnam. I went back to film work after Dobie. I went back to film work after Dobie. When I travel, I draw and paint sketches which is great fun. And as long as you are fully aware that it has nothing to do with actual art, I think that's all right. The Company of Wolves doesn't belong in any category, so it's difficult to prepare an audience for it. It's not a horror film, it's not a fantasy film, it's not a children's film - so what is it? Television, despite its enormous presence, turns out to have added pitifully few lines to the communal memory. In the midst of the fountain of wit there arises something bitter, which stings in the very flowers. Before all else, be armed. One of the things that I loved about listening to Miles Davis is that Miles always had an instinct for which musicians were great for what situations. He could always pick a band, and that was the thing that separated him from everybody else. You need a team. You need people to push you. You need opponents. In 1944 James Arthur and Minnie Susan were added to the Marx household. People sometimes say it takes a long time to become a jazz fan, but for me it took about five seconds. There's a lot of comedy in Intermission but it's got this depth. It's not comedy for comedy's sake - it's informed by something else. I like stuff like that. No nude scenes. No sex-symbol parts. I want people to recognize me for my work, not just for being pretty. It used to be that if you had a pretty good record, you could stop by a station in Little Rock or Atlanta and let the DJ listen to it. No way something like that can happen now. It may not be too late, whatever happens, if our President, Lyndon Johnson, knew the truth from me. But if I am eliminated, there won't be any way of knowing. Yes, there's a luck in most things; and in none more than being born at the right time. We belabour, I think, under a very heavy crust of consumerism really. Not content to have the audience in the palm of his hand, he goes one further and clinches his fist. Ranchers need clean water for their stock, farmers need it for their crops, every employer needs it to stay in business, and every living thing needs it for life... The law needs to be clear to protect water quality and the rights of landowners. Cure yourself of the affliction of caring how you appear to others. Concern yourself only with how you appear before God, concern yourself only with the idea that God may have of you. I always say that I am very proud of the work that I did with the Rolling Stones and that I am also proud of what I have done with the Rhythm Kings. |
Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.

George StraitThis is the kind of problem you want to have! Country radio has been great to me my whole career. I can't thank those folks enough. |
George Harvey Strait is an American country music singer. Strait is referred to as the "King of Country," and critics call Strait a living legend. He is known for his unique style of western swing music, bar-room ballads, honky-tonk style, and fresh yet traditional country western music.
