My uncle is a Southern planter. He's an undertaker in Alabama. Eventually I would like to touch all the genres. I would like to do some detective stories, and I want to do a Western. I would want to do humorous Westerns. Kids don't go out and buy CDs, they make their own, they download them from the Internet. You can't fool television viewers with dancing girls and flashing lights. The experiment of the poem is mostly intuitive. I write the first draft, pulling in the various elements that interest me, in the hope that their being combined will lead to some kind of insight. Others indeed may talk, and write, and fight about liberty, and make an outward pretence to it; but the free-thinker alone is truly free. I'm not dead and I don't have blue hair but some people say there are similarities. It is usually intolerable to watch myself onscreen but this time it's fine. I think it's beautiful and a real work of art. Honestly, being a doctor could make you more close minded than regular people. I can't think of anything specific growing up that pointed me toward NASA at all. I was interested in the Moon landings just about the same as everyone else of my generation. But I never really thought about being an astronaut or working in space myself. Christ preferred the poor; ever since I have been converted so have I. People in very high places suddenly fall, and we are always surprised because we don't factor in the basic element that they're humans and, therefore, they are flawed and have weaknesses. I don't think I really invented anybody. I have drawn on real life. It's not subtle or restrained. It's not any of the things you like to think apply to your acting. The '60s aren't over; they won't be over until the Fat Lady gets high. Directors who turn into big babies and shut out criticism stop learning. Looking back, I think we were all quite mature, surprisingly responsible. In earlier wars, boys of our age had just gone off to raise hell or enlist or both, but we stayed dutifully at our desks doing tomorrow's homework. I really liked watching Bo Jackson run just because of his size and his speed. We need a reform of the Security Council. It must be perceived as truly representative by all the 191 member states, to uphold the credibility and legitimacy of the UN as the main political arena. I'd like people to remember me for a diligent expert workman. I think a poet is a workman. I think Shakespeare was a workman. And God's a workman. I don't think there's anything better than a workman. I've been chased through airports with a screaming baby because the photographers are ruthless, and they want the picture. What a man calls his "conscience" is merely the mental action that follows a sentimental reaction after too much wine or love. Extreme hopes are born from extreme misery. The lady doth protest too much, methinks. Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. We are who we're going to be when we're very old, and when we're very old we are who we were when we were 8. From the errors of others, a wise man corrects his own. Those who have no record of what their forebears have accomplished lose the inspiration which comes from the teaching of biography and history. On the whole, I tend not to listen to my peers.
