ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ War is like love; it always finds a way. It is not possible, given any degree of optimism and generosity in regard to people in general, to set a time limit on creative reflection or a limitation on the number of people involved in the creation. Well, to be honest I think I'm a better short story writer than a novelist. Novels I find very hard, hours and hours, weeks and weeks, of conscious thought - whereas short stories slip out painlessly in a few days. So long as the Zulu people are here, clearly I will still have a role to play in this country. Beware the wrath of a patient adversary. The measure would set criminal penalties, the same as those that would apply if harm or death happened to the pregnant woman, for those who harm a fetus. Gentility is what is left over from rich ancestors after the money is gone. To the people here, we are outsiders. Foreigners. I'm currently raising a 15 year old son and an 18 year old daughter, which a guess is my punishment for a wild youth! If your heart is a volcano, how shall you expect flowers to bloom? In fact, a large majority of those have died and of those expected to die of AIDS, as well as of those who are infected with the virus, are in sub-Saharan Africa. Those who have expressed doubts and misgivings about their ability to live this kind of life shouldn't try, because being a musician is not something you chose to be, it is something you are. A telephone survey says that 51 percent of college students drink until they pass out at least once a month. The other 49 percent didn't answer the phone. In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. In its beginnings, music was merely chamber music, meant to be listened to in a small space by a small audience. I think by that time I knew where Chewie was going, and he left me to do what was called for, because the character had been well established. You know, it was like putting on a second skin by that time. Are you going to come quietly, or do I have to use earplugs? I am one of the writers who wish to create serious works of literature which dissociate themselves from those novels which are mere reflections of the vast consumer cultures of Tokyo and the subcultures of the world at large. Where belief is painful we are slow to believe. I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the Savior, for whose Kingdom it stands, one Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again, with life and liberty for all who believe. They say the world has become too complex for simple answers. They are wrong. Besides the physical strains I realized men can be pigs to women even when it's a man dressed as one. Zhvania was the general secretary of the organisation which I founded, the Citizens' Union. It was the biggest organisation and came first in all elections, and Zhvania was the leader. Drums all have their own particulars - each drum has a place where they sound the best - where they ring out and resonate the best, and the head surface isn't too loose or too tight, mainly so you get a good rebound off of the head. The key is, if you're not monkeying around with the script, then everything usually goes pretty well. God may be in the details, but the goddess is in the questions. Once we begin to ask them, there's no turning back. The right to kill another person is not a right that I would agree with and support. I'm no model lady. A model's just an imitation of the real thing. |
Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud.

TacitusA bad peace is even worse than war. - Tacitus A desire to resist oppression is implanted in the nature of man. - Tacitus A shocking crime was committed on the unscrupulous initiative of few individuals, with the blessing of more, and amid the passive acquiescence of all. - Tacitus Abuse if you slight it, will gradually die away; but if you show yourself irritated, you will be thought to have deserved it. - Tacitus All enterprises that are entered into with indiscreet zeal may be pursued with great vigor at first, but are sure to collapse in the end. - Tacitus All things atrocious and shameless flock from all parts to Rome. - Tacitus Be assured those will be thy worst enemies, not to whom thou hast done evil, but who have done evil to thee. And those will be thy best friends, not to whom thou hast done good, but who have done good to thee. - Tacitus Candor and generosity, unless tempered by due moderation, leads to ruin. - Tacitus Custom adapts itself to expediency. - Tacitus Fear is not in the habit of speaking truth; when perfect sincerity is expected, perfect freedom must be allowed; nor has anyone who is apt to be angry when he hears the truth any cause to wonder that he does not hear it. - Tacitus |
Publius Cornelius Tacitus was a senator and a historian of the Roman Empire. The surviving portions of his two major works—the Annals and the Histories—examine the reigns of the Roman Emperors Tiberius, Claudius, Nero and those who reigned in the Year of the Four Emperors.
